Cupid's helper

KIMBERLEY - It's a long bow and arrow shot from Kimberley to Kilo, Peru, so Cupid got a little help recently from Mr. George Hay, local radio amateur.

Miss Pat Chandler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Chandler, is engaged to Jim Mullaney, son of Mr. and Mrs., Ray Mullaney of Kilo, and Mr. Hay provided the facilities for the parents of the bride-to-be to talk to the parents of the groom-to-be and discuss some of the forthcoming marriage.

A good reception was reported at both ends of the radio link.

Miss Chandler and her fiancé met at the University of Victoria when both were students. The wedding, to take place this summer, will be attended by his parents, formerly of Flin Flon, Man.

Former resident gets posting

KIMBERLEY - Art Sorensen, a former Kimberley resident and cousin of Chris Sorensen, Mrs. Vivian Moe and Mrs. Cathy Clarke, has received an interesting new posting to the Northwest Territories.

A reporter for the Edmonton Journal, the first Canadian Daily newspaper to cover the North on a full time basis, has been appointed their resident correspondent based at Yellowknife.

Art Sorensen, who has been covering the vast Arctic and sub-Arctic regions for the Journal for about 2 1/2 years, has now taken up residence at Yellowknife with his wife Lynda and a 17-month old daughter Jodi-Lyn.
