Last Friday evening (Sept. 6 1968), the members of the "Blue Velvet Brass" dance orchestra enjoyed one of the most successful dances in their eighteen - month career, but, lamented one member of the group, "It was our last dance."
The Blue Velvet Brass, disbanding because some of the members are leaving the area to go to school held a Farewell Cabaret at the Kimbrook last Friday which attracted about 225 persons - a capacity crowd. In addition to their regular variety of selections, the band also featured the vocal talents of Miss Karen Fogde and a performance by go-go dancer Miss Bev, Herman. Miss Mary Ann Finch handled ticket sales at the door.
After introducing the member of the band, thanking the performers and Kimbrook manager Stan Dinsmore, Guy Machi, the leader of the group, thanked the people of the area for their support and hinted that - "Brass" may be back around New Year's.
Pictured above, the Members of the "Blue Velvet Brass", left to are Rudy Sandor, Dennis Davies, Ed McKenzie, Randy Marchi, Mike Turner, and Guy Marchi.
